8 Ender in Midland

***A first person account of the event***

Curlers from right to left in the "8 Ender" picture:

*    Lead - Doug Leng - founding member for Midland Curling Club, Doug has been curling for eons (or at least that what it seems like "smile") - I would guess 50+ years.
*    Skip - Peter Dam - 35+ years of curling.
*    Second - Chris Sanchez - 2nd year curler.
*    Third - Fred Strautman - 35+ years of curling.

All I can recall was that on my last rock I took out a Strouse stone in the 4 (pushing it throw the port at the back of the 4, leaving my shot biting the 4 on the left side as you look at the  8 Ender picture). The
Strouse stone was either shot or second shot. Scott Strouse on his first shot was heavy on the draw and slid through the port at the back of the 4 and I swept it out the back. Peter put up a middleish line guard with his first shot. Strouse tried to draw again ended up bumping Peter's guard in (the rock at my feet in the picture). Peter drew the 4 with his last rock for the eight.

The down side of the game was we lost 13 to 11 in 8 ends. Strouse scored 5 in the first, we scored the 8 ender in the second. Then Scott Strouse make a GREATTTTTTTTTTTT double takeout to score 5 in the 3rd. The game was tied 11 - 11 after 7. Strouse scored 2 in the 8th to win.
