2012 GLCA Playdowns Rankings and Initial Draws Announced

The seedings and the first draw matchups have been set for this year's GLCA Men's and Women's playdowns, which will be held January 13-15 at the Cleveland Skate Club.

Men's

1) Roberts

2) Doremus

3) Turner

4) Moore

5) Gohr

6) Hulme

7) Mercer

8) Hartranft

The first draw of the playdowns will be Friday evening at 7:00pm

Sheet 1- Roberts vs Hantranft

Sheet 2- Moore vs Gohr

Sheet 3- Doremus vs Mercer

Sheet 4- Turner vs Hulme

Draw Two will be 9:00am Saturday with Friday evening's winners playing on Sheets 1 and 3 and loosers facing each other on Sheets 2 and 5.

Women's

The first draw for the Women's playdowns will also be 7:00pm Friday

Sheet 5- DeBuck vs Mercer

Draw Two will be played at 9:00am Saturday with the Schneider team playing the loser from Friday evening's game.

2012 GLCA Men's and Women's Playdowns in Cleveland

The Cleveland Skating Club is pleased to be hosting this year’s GLCA Men’s and Women’s regional play downs, the weekend of January 13-15. Preparations are proceeding and we are looking forward to some great curling. GLCA President, Tom Seitz, will be the event chair. His contact information is shown below.

Elsewhere on the website Home Page is the link to the tentative schedule for the weekend, and a list of hotels/motels For those of you that curled last year at Mayfield, the draw will look pretty similar, except we will be using 4 sheets. Double knockout system will be used (see GLCA website for draw format – men:  8 team 4 sheets, women: 3 team 4 sheets and while you are there, check out  the GLCA play down rules). For those of you wondering about ice conditions, we will have Ice King here to help prepare the ice (part of team that made superb ice here for last year's USWCA Nationals).

Friday 12:00 noon to 5:30PM General practice – (may need to start this as early as 11:00AM) all teams, all sheets, order based on distance travelled, followed by a dinner break (hopefully supplied by the CSC) and skip meeting. First draw will be 7:00, all men’s teams and #2 and #3 women’s seeds.

Saturday draws will be at 9:00, 2:00, and 7:00.

Sunday draws will be 9:00, and 2:00 if needed.

Skips, please relay this info to your team members. Tom Seitz will follow up with a message to all of your team members this weekend as well as getting out the self-seeding ballots.
